Summer Reading Challenge

Summer Reading Challenge

Nau mai, haere mai!

Sign up is now available for the Manawatu District Libraries Summer Reading Challenge -  Kids Backyard Explorers - Summer Reading Challenge running from the 5th December 2022 - 18th January 2023 for 5 - 13 year olds.

The summer reading theme is all about becoming an explorer of your own backyard, learning about the plants, animals, and insects that call Aotearoa their home.

There will be activities such as build a bug hotel, create a backyard map, and (of course) read as much as you can!

There are prizes to be won by completing activity badges, reading badges, and review badges. We will also be holding a Celebration Disco at the end of the challenge, open to all those who complete the Backyard Expedition Checklist!

What is Beanstack?

Beanstack is a digital platform that rewards reading with virtual badges and achievements. You can log reading books and minutes. Also engage in our challenges and activities.

The whole family can share the same account, with each reader having their own profile.

The beanstack tracker App is also available to download to easily keep track once you have signed up.
