Events and Competitions

Lit Quiz Club
Come along for some fun quizzes and team work -
Each year, Whakarongo School enters 2 teams into the Manawatu Lit (Literacy) Quiz Competition.  Ask anyone who has been about the fun of the day and event - and amazing set up of the competition.
You DO NOT have to read a wide range of books to come along to the club (currently held on Wednesday lunchtimes in Homeroom 7) but it does help if you have a book genre or series passion area and are open to exploring more.
Open to year 5-8 students - any questions or queries then come along and see Pou Gwen in Toa Pod.

Palmy Event - Zinefest
So what is a ‘zine’?

A zine (pronounced ‘zeen’; an abbreviation of fanzine, or magazine) is most commonly a small circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images usually reproduced via photocopier.

Zines are usually published in editions  of fewer than 100 and profit is not the intent of publication. The zine movement is informed by anarchopunk and D.I.Y ethos.

Manawatu Lit Quiz 2019
If you are in Year 6, 7 or 8 and wish to take part in the 2019 Manawatu Lit Quiz Competition then we have just started the Term 1 training sessions on Wednesday lunchtimes in Homeroom 1 with Ms. Thompson.
There will be 2 x teams of 4 students entered this year.
The training sessions are used to select the 8 students who will attend this competition - based on literacy/book exposure, team diversity, team work, attendance to training and WK values.
The lunchtime sessions are fun and interactive - so even if you don't make this years team, you will still get a lot out of these sessions.
